Yesterday was Idyllic……

Got up early, made chocolate and cherry trifle from scratch. (Am so proud) Then we all wandered down to the park and played volleyball and football as well as honing our hula-hoop skills. The sun was warm and it was great to be with friends enjoying it all.

Later on Michael came round for a boozy lunch. It was good to see him. He’s doing well in his job and has a new body shape from going to the gym. (“The Temple of the Flesh” apparently.) This is what we had for lunch, in the style of many post-modern gastro pub menus –

Oven- Roasted Red & Yellow Peppers with Sun-Dried Tomatoes in a Pesto and Olive Oil served with Warm Roundels of Bread and Farm Fresh Butter.

Chargrilled Lidls’ Tuna Steak with a White Wine, Caper and Shallot Vinaigrette served with a bed of Fluffy Aromatic Cous-Cous and Fresh Buttered Green Beans

Dark Chocolate, Morello Cherry and Mascarpone Trifle Served with Whipped Excretion of Cow.

Corner Shop 2005 White Wine served with Carbonated Sugar Water.

It was delicious. Mmmm.
After that we walked along the canal, and stopped off at the Palm Tree for a pint. We lay back on the grass and watched the planes fly over us through orange tinted sunglasses. This summer’s going to be great.

Breaking up is hard to do.....

That's all I've got to say now.

Monday, May 2

Ho Hum…. Just spent some of my Bank Holiday morning clearing up needles, crack-pipes and human shit. Was doing a routine check of the fire exits before the lunchtime concert and when I opened SE Porch door I saw that some of the homeless people had rather thoughtfully built a cardboard citadel with which to have themselves a bank holiday drugs fest.

Work has been a little trying of late. I did the announcement for the lunchtime concert on Friday and got the performer’s name wrong. Was cringing at the memory all day. Funny how much bigger a mistake seems when it’s in front of 440 people.

Last week I worked over 50 hours due to members of my team being off sick and today I am in for another 12-hour shift. In addition to this I have been going out to everything I’m invited to in and around London Town. Consequently, on this fine, sunny afternoon I feel like roadkill.

Although it is fair to say that I seriously love my job, I simply cannot wait for the summer when I am responsibility-free (to an extent). I have started posting on tribe.net and have had such a good response from the Burning Man community. I have already got a lift-share offer, loads of advice and an invite to a Santa Cruz beach party. In addition to this; Babalou, who I will be volunteering with on the Playa for the Artery Dept has offered me her spare room as a safety net. I simply cannot believe how amazing these people are!

As I haven’t posted for ages, here’s a rundown of what’s been going on -

Been punting in Oxford. Part of Mum’s 50 Bday weekend. Jim (stepdad) got all the family together as a surprise and we spent the weekend in a very posh hotel. Was amazing. Will never forget the look on Mum’s face.

Danced & staggered the night away at Kill All Hippies

Had insomnia. A lot

Been to see “Finding Neverland” at the Prince Charles with Richie. We shared a loveseat, which was nice. Film was excellent. Johnny Depp is so clever.

Made friends with the 56-year-old labourer, Liam, who lives two doors down from us. We met him in the pub. He then took Helen and me home and made us Irish coffee, which had 90% moonshine whiskey in it. Then I fell asleep on one of his armchairs while Helen talked politics with him)

Been thinking a lot about the election. (Think will vote Respect Coalition in our borough and Lib Dem nationwide.) Am dreading either Labour or the Tories getting in. Had a nightmare last night that it got to Thursday and I didn’t know how to vote. Which is true, I don’t. Is it at the library or something?

Went on an all day bender for Lucy’s bday at the Morgan Arms. (See Liam incident above)

Went to a mad party (last night) at the Great Eastern Hotel They had a hip hop room (Room? More like colossally huge cavern with galleries & installations) And a bands room which had a strange blue light that made everything look toxic. The bands were quite good, saw Metro Riot, who were alright. It would be fair to say that their drummer is the best thing about them. Apparently there was a dance room as well but I didn’t find it. Wine was £4.00 for a small glass so we were forced to make friends with the bar man and blag.

Went to Leyton Leisure Lagoon last Sunday with Helen and Boo and played on the slides with the little kids. Brilliant. Sometimes think that we have a mental age of 7.

Went to Bacchanalia with Josh (colleague, not brother) on Saturday and talked deep stuff –immigration, western drinking culture, alcoholism, Hinduism. Average night’s chat really.

Munched on prawn and egg bagels from the 24 hour bagel shop on Brick Lane – mmmmm.

Sold lots of old clothes on ebay and made £58.00 profit for Burning Man. Wooo-Hooo, that’s $110. Amazing.

Went to the Pleasure Unit in Bethnal Green to see a band called The Duvets. They were quite good, sang songs about Supermarkets. The Bassist is HOT and also has a girlfriend. Meh.

Anyway, that’s enough. Can’t remember any other stuff…..brain has slowed to a halt.
